Homeless Find Seasonal Shelter
Education officials in Massachusetts estimate that on any given day, some 40 thousand children are in school, but are homeless.
One community that's particularly affected is Salisbury. The town is close to the state's border with New Hampshire. Oceanside rentals are relatively cheap in the off season there. And, for many families with children, it's become a shelter of sorts. Almost 30 percent of kids at the local elementary school live in temporary housing.
WBUR's David Boeri has been up to Salisbury this week and has more on the story.
