Big Dig Ends

The Big Dig officially wraps up December 31, bringing to an end the nation's most complex and costliest highway project.

Construction went on for more than 15 years, during which time the project's cost increased from $3 billion to almost $15 billion dollars.

Some drivers say the the Big Dig has improved their commutes, and a study shows the average trip through Boston has been cut down from nearly 20 minutes to just three minutes since the dig was opened to traffic.

This program aired on December 26, 2007. The audio for this program is not available.
