Lottery to Expand Ticket Sales

State lottery officials unveiled a plan to expand sales of scratch tickets to retail chains all over the commonwealth, as what they said is the only way to grow lottery revenue.

Officials say they have already held talks with a number of retail chains. Under the proposed plan, the tickets would be sold at stores like Dunkin' Donuts, CVS and Wal-mart.

Profits from the state lottery are allocated to cities and towns. Over the last two years, however, revenue has fallen short of budget projections.
