BOSTON, Mass. - January 23, 2007 - Classes will return to a regular schedule at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School today, although officials have postponed the mid-term exams. It's the first full day since a stabbing at the school last Friday claimed the life of a 15-year-old student.
The suspect, 16-year-old sophomore John Odgren, has pleaded not guilty and is currently being held in a Department of Youth Services facility. His defense attorney says Odgren has a mild form of autism, known as Asperger's Syndrome. Odgren was enrolled in a program that aims to teach students with special needs in a mainstream school.
Commentator Susan Senator says she worries that this tragic incident will cause people to rethink the mainstream philosophy.
