Snow Emergency in Boston

Heavy snow prompted city officials to declare a snow emergency in Boston today.

The storm started of slow and rainy, but conditions worsened significantly by the time the morning commute got underway. The snow is so heavy, it has created near white-out conditions in some areas.

More than 600 public and private schools are closed,
Logan International Airport is open but many flights are cancelled or delayed.

Forecasters predict up to a foot of accumulation in Worcester and surrounding areas, and between five and six inches in Boston.
