Life Sciences Bill to Come Up Today

Today on Beacon Hill, lawmakers are expected to take up Governor Deval Patrick's plan to pump $1 billion into the state's life sciences industry.

The plan calls for, among other things, investing in a stem cell center at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester.

Supporters say the bill could create 250 thousand jobs in the next decade.

Critics say the plan invests too heavily in one industry.

Patrick proposed the plan early last year.
