Bay State Home Sales Fall Again

Sales of single family homes fell 19 percent in February, compared to February, 2007.

Real estate tracking firm the Warren Group also reports that median prices of single family homes fell almost nine percent, to $301,000.

The news was no better for the condominium market. Condo sales fell 25 percent, and prices fell seven percent to a median of $256,500.

However, some analysts say the numbers may indicate the housing slump has reached bottom, since single family home sales did not drop much between January and February.

The Massachusetts Association of Realtors, which only tracks sales of homes in which a realtor was used, also released its February sales data.

It reports that single family home sales fell almost 23 percent and prices fell more than 4.5 percent. Condo sales fell almost 35 percent percent, and median prices fell almost seven percent.
