Environmental Concerns over Casino

While the Massachusetts House has rejected Governor Patrick's casino proposal, the Mashpee Wampanoag can still proceed with their plans for a gambling facility. The Indian tribe is doing so under federal laws,

But the Mashpee Wampanoags' casino proposal in Middleborough is meeting environmental objections. The Massachusetts Audubon Society is asking the Bureau of Indian Affairs to make the Mashpee consider alternative sites.

That recommendation came at a public hearing in Middleborough last night. WBUR's Fred Thys reports.
