State Releases Standardized Test Results

Boston public schools are touting the results of the latest MCAS report card, saying the exam shows students making continued improvement in math, with gains comparable to or greater than statewide improvements in most grades tested.

The bad news is that, as in most other cities and towns throughout the state, Boston's English scores remained flat or declined in most grades.

The state released district-by-district results today. Education Commissioner Mitchell Chester says schools that showed improvements in reading... such as the Edgar Hooks Elementary School in Chelsea, employ reading specialists and keep a close eye on students all year.
