Previewing the Celtics' Season

The Boston Celtics will raise their 17th championship banner to the rafters of the new garden Tuesday night, before their regular season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The team won the NBA championship last season, just a year after a disastrous 2006-2007 season in which the Celts won just 24 games and finished with the worst record in the Eastern Conference.

That stunning reversal is the subject of a new book by former Boston Globe and Hartford Courant sports reporter Peter May.

It's called "Top of the World: The Inside Story of the Boston Celtics' Amazing One-Year Turnaround to Become NBA Champions."

Peter May joins WBUR's Bob Oakes to preview the Celtics' prospects this season.

Peter May will read from his new book Tuesday October 28th at 12:30 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble bookstore at the Prudential Center in Boston.

He'll also do a reading Wednesday October 29th at the Borders Bookstore in Boston's Downtown Crossing at 1 p.m., and at the Wellesley Booksmith Wednesday at 7 p.m.

This program aired on October 28, 2008. The audio for this program is not available.
