Wilkerson Arrested By FBI On Corruption Allegations

State Sen. Dianne Wilkerson is under arrest on multiple allegations of public corruption for allegedly accepting more than $23,000 in bribes.

FBI agents and members of the Boston Police Anti-Corruption Unit arrested Wilkerson at her Dorchester home this morning.

Authorities say during a secret investigation over a nine month period last year, they audio-and-video-taped Wilkerson accepting cash from undercover agents.

In exchange, Wilkerson allegedly manipulated legislation in the senate, bypassed the public bidding process and pressured Boston officials for a liquor license.

Wilkerson has been a state senator for 16 years. She lost the Democratic primary to Sonia Chang-Diaz, but has been running a sticker campaign against her in next week's election.

Wilkerson is set to be arraigned this afternoon.

This program aired on October 28, 2008. The audio for this program is not available.
