'Question 1' Backers, Critics Make Final Arguments

Among the items on the ballot November 4 is a proposal to end the state income tax. Known as Question One, the initiative would abolish the state's 5.3 percent income tax.

A similar measure was put to voters in 2002. It lost, but by a narrow margin. To discuss Question One as voting day approaches, we invited Carla Howell and Paul Guzzi into our studios.

Carla Howell is president of the Committee for Small Government, and Paul Guzzi is president of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.

To start off, we hear Carla Howell make the case in favor of abolishing the income tax.

This program aired on October 30, 2008. The audio for this program is not available.
