Job Cuts Could Soar In December

Economists and workers unions are warning this December could be a particularly brutal month for job layoffs.

As the economy worsens, the Massachusetts AFL-CIO says it's expecting significant cutbacks next month, a month in which employers historically cut the most jobs.

The state lost nearly 4,000 jobs in December 2000, the last time there was a recession.
