Boston City Council To Weigh Turner's Political Fate

The Boston City Council will meet this afternoon to discuss if it has the legal authority to oust Councilor Chuck Turner, after his arrest by the FBI Friday on charges he took a bribe.

The council has already stripped Turner of his committee chairmanships.

Councilor Stephen Murphy says photos allegedly showing Turner taking a cash bribe in his district office came as a shock.

MURPHY: It's just deeply disturbing. I never assumed or thought that Councilor Turner would be about anything like that.

Turner will ask the council to let him keep his seat at a public rally on the steps of City Hall, before the council meeting this afternoon.

Turner says the FBI's case against him is entrapment, and says he'll likely sue the City Council if it removes him from office.
