By Martha Bebinger
Listen to story (Real Audio)
BOSTON, Mass. - March 21, 2008 - The rising cost of subsidized health coverage for the uninsured in Massachusetts is putting new pressure on supporters of the state's mandatory health insurance law to figure out how to pay for health care coverage under the law.
Yesterday the connector board that runs the plan cast several critical unanimous votes that reassess what affordable coverage means.
Advocates for low to moderate income people covered under the plan agreed to significant increases in co-payments and premiums, but the agreement comes with the understanding that hospitals, insurance companies and employers will also soon contribute more as well.
