BOSTON, Mass. - March 28, 2008 - The number of Massachusetts high school students participating in sports has increased steadily every year for the past decade. In fact, an estimated 70% of Bay State high schoolers now take part.
Many students, and of course their parents, hope athletic ability will lead to more college acceptances and scholarships. In reality, fewer than five percent will continue to play in college.
Among the chosen few is Adrian Gonzalez, a senior at Central Catholic in Lawrence. WBUR's David Boeri profiles the basketball star and his prospects.
