The Newly Unemployed: You're Not Alone

When Barack Obama assumes the Oval Office next week, he'll inherit the country's record-high unemployment. Nationally, the jobless rate hit 7.2% in December. In Massachusetts, it was a bit lower, at about 6%.

But if you've lost your job, these statistics are 100% reality. And, with more layoffs every day, you're not alone.

To help take the edge off their unemployment, and maybe help get a new job, some people are gathering for "pink slip parties."

WBUR's David Boeri stopped by one local gathering.
