Gov. Patrick: School Funding Won't Be Cut

Governor Deval Patrick this morning, is expected to tell city and town leaders that he will not be cutting state funding for public schools as he seeks to close a budget gap.

Geoff Beckwith, executive director of the Massachusetts Municipal Association, says that is welcome news:

"We'll also be very interested in learning if the fed money that is going to be coming to mass as part of the economic recovery package will be available not just to state government but also to help protect and shore up municipal services."

Governor Patrick is the guest today on Radio Boston.

He'll take your questions, today at 1 p.m. ET on WBUR.

This program aired on January 23, 2009. The audio for this program is not available.
