Gov. Patrick Pitches Gas Tax Plan

Transportation reform gets a test drive in Springfield today.

A joint legislative committee will hold the first of its public hearings on proposals to overhaul and pay for the state's systems. The most contentious idea is Governor Deval Patrick's plan to raise the state gas tax.

Patrick will testify at today's hearing. He'll also pitch his plan directly to residents in Worcester and Natick. As WBUR's Fred Thys reports, the Governor took it on the road in Hanover yesterday.

This program aired on March 4, 2009. The audio for this program is not available.
