Mass. To Gain From Lifting Stem Cell Funding Ban

As promised back on the campaign trail, President Obama has overturned Bush administration policy and relaxed restrictions on stem cell research in the U-S. He announced his executive order Monday.

OBAMA: We will bring the change that so many scientists and researchers, doctors and innovators, patients and loved ones have hoped for, and fought for, these past eight years: We will lift the ban on federal funding for promising embryonic stem cell research.

To explore what this means for stem cell research in Massachusetts, we turn now to WBUR's Health and Science reporter Sacha Pfeiffer.

This program aired on March 10, 2009. The audio for this program is not available.
