Memorial For Former Mass. House Speaker Keverian

Massachusetts residents get to pay their final respects to former House Speaker George Keverian.

Keverian will be memorialized in the House chamber at noon on Wednesday, followed by a wake in the afternoon in the Great Hall at the Statehouse.

A funeral is scheduled for Thursday at Holy Trinity Church in Cambridge, followed by burial at Glenwood Cemetery in Everett.

Everett Mayor Carlo DeMaria Jr. is inviting residents, workers, and friends to the procession from Broadway, to Ferry Street and Elm Street, to the cemetery.

Keverian was found dead at his Everett home last Friday. He was 77. He served as Speaker from 1985 to 1990.
