Review: Boston Fire's Maintenance Approach 'Loosey-Goosey'

The Boston Fire Department has received a disappointing report card for truck maintenance.

An independent review of the department found a "loosey-goosey approach" to "virtually all areas of fleet management."

The review was commissioned after it was determined that a fire truck accident in January that killed Fire Lieutenant Kevin Kelley was caused by brake failure.

Fire department officials say they are already taking steps to improve their truck maintenance practices.
