Defense Contractors Brace For Job Cuts
Local defense contractors say they're bracing for job cuts because of the Obama Administration plans to cut defense spending by targeting big weapons programs.
Programs on the chopping block include a new class of destroyer for the Navy and the F-22 fighter jet for the Air Force.
The Boston Globe reports if those programs are lost, it could mean thousands of job cuts at small firms such as Precision Castparts in North Grafton and the defense giant Raytheon of Waltham.
The Department of Defense says preserving jobs will not be a factor in its deliberations.
