Menino Puts Pressure On Filene's Developers
Boston Mayor Thomas Menino says he's frustrated by the stalled development of the Filene's site in Downtown Crossing.
The project's developers, Vornado Realty Trust and John Hynes, have said they could not get loans to complete work on the $700 million development.
After a Boston Chamber of Commerce forum Tuesday morning, Menino called on developers to get cracking, or move on.
"What plan?" the mayor asked. "They've been stalled for two years. I'm tired of the stalling. No more stalling. Let's get it done."
They mayor says he's open to new ideas for developing the site, including a health care facility or a school.
