Though we won't know the winner of the special election to fill the state's open U.S. Senate seat until Jan. 19, one thing is already clear. The winner of that election — either Attorney General Martha Coakley or state senator Scott Brown — will resign from an elected post.

Jockeying has already begun on Beacon Hill for the potentially open Attorney General job. WBUR's Steve Brown examined how both of the vacancies would be filled.

This program aired on December 9, 2009.
