Inquest Completed In '86 Bishop Killing

Authorities say a Massachusetts judge has completed a closed-door inquest into the 1986 death of the brother of a former university professor accused in Alabama of killing three colleagues.

Norfolk District Attorney William Keating ordered the inquest to investigate whether Amy Bishop intentionally shot her 18-year-old brother, Seth, at their Braintree home.

The shooting was originally ruled an accident.

Supreme Judicial Court spokeswoman Joan Kenney says the report of the inquest was finalized Tuesday and delivered to the Norfolk Superior Court.

All documents are impounded until the district attorney decides not to prosecute, fails to win an indictment, trial against possible suspects is completed or a judge determines that no criminal trial is likely.

Bishop was arrested in the Feb. 12 shooting deaths of three professors at the University of Alabama-Huntsville.
