Report: Amy Bishop Attempts Suicide In Jail

Amy Bishop, the former Braintree resident indicted this week on a charge of murdering her brother 24 years ago, tried to kill herself in an Alabama jail on Friday, according to reports by an Alabama television station and The Associated Press.

Bishop was rushed from the Huntsville/Madison County Metro-Jail to Huntsville Hospital early Friday morning with injuries connected to a suicide attempt, according to the report by WHNT-TV.

Bishop, who is charged in Alabama with the murders of three colleagues at the University of Alabama-Huntsville, reportedly survived and was returned to the jail.

Her attorney and the Madison County Alabama Sheriff's Department could not immediately be reached for comment.
