Mass. Town Official Fired For Spying On Workers

The board of selectmen has fired a Massachusetts town administrator accused of planting a pen with a videocamera in a ceiling directly above a bathroom stall in the women's restroom at Town Hall.

Shirley town selectmen voted Thursday to fire Kyle Keady, three days after he was arrested and charged with illegal recording, illegal possession of a recording device, and video recording a person in a state of nudity.

Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone said Keady went to "extraordinary" lengths to illegally videotape and photograph town employees, using video cameras and a baby monitor. The devices were planted in the women's restroom and various offices at Town Hall.

The 46-year-old Keady has been the town administrator for about eight years.
