Civil Rights Advocates Say FBI May Be Profiling

The American Civil Liberties Union in Massachusetts is calling on the FBI to release information on the methods it uses to gather information on certain ethnic groups.

The ACLU is concerned that the FBI could be racial-profiling by documenting people's lifestyle, religion and even eating habits, said Chris Ott, communications manager at the Massachusetts ACLU.

"We want to know more about the program to find out what else could possibly be," Ott said, "other ways in which this information could be misused or other ways in which things could be going wrong."

About 30 ACLU affiliates in all filed Freedom of Information Act requests with their local FBI offices on Tuesday.

FBI officials did not comment on the matter.
