Mass. Voters Re-Elect U.S. Rep. John Tierney

Voters in Massachusetts' 6th Congressional District have re-elected Democratic U.S. Rep. John Tierney to an eighth term, rejecting a challenge by GOP newcomer Bill Hudak.

Tierney's campaign was complicated in October when his wife Patrice Tierney pleaded guilty to charges that she helped her brother conceal income from an illegal offshore gambling business that generated millions of dollars.

Rep. Tierney said his wife was betrayed by her brother, and believed his income came from selling or licensing software to legal Internet gambling businesses.

Despite Tierney's woes, Hudak was unable to convince voters it was time for a change.

Late in the campaign Hudak sued Tierney charging Tierney's campaign with defaming him in television ads. He later dropped the suit.
