U.S. Rep. McGovern Re-Elected In 3rd Mass. District

Democrat James McGovern of Worcester has won another term in the 3rd Massachusetts Congressional District.

McGovern fended off a challenge Tuesday from Republican Martin Lamb and independent candidate Patrick Barron of Worcester.

McGovern has represented the first district since 1997. He touted his record of bringing jobs and federal funding to the district, which along with Worcester includes Attleboro and portions of Fall River in southeastern Massachusetts.

Lamb, a real estate attorney from Holliston, outlined a "Lamb Chop" plan for cutting federal spending.

Barron, who works for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, said he believed Washington had lost touch with the average voter.
