Last 2 Stolen Paintings Returned To Owner In Mass.

The last of the seven pieces of valuable art stolen more than three decades ago from a Stockbridge home have been returned to their owner.

The final two works, by Jean Jansem, were returned to Michael Bakwin on Wednesday after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the final appeal by Robert Mardirosian, who was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2008 for possessing the paintings.

Mardirosian of Falmouth, a retired attorney, got the paintings from a former client shortly after they were stolen in 1978. He then moved the paintings out of the country, later tried to collect a $1 million finder's fee and attempted to ship the paintings to London for sale.

Bakwin has auctioned the most valuable of the five already returned to him, a Cezanne still life, for $29 million.
