Mayor Menino Nears Hospital Release For Infected Elbow

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, who's being treated for an infection, could be released from Brigham and Women's Hospital as early as Wednesday morning.

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Brandon Earp is tending to the infection that developed from a scrape on the mayor's elbow.

"We're monitoring him closely. He's stable and in wonderful spirits and he's working, so we will just see how his skin responds to the antibiotics and go from there," Earp says.

Menino scraped his elbow in a visit to Florence, Italy, last weekend, attending an urban development conference.
