Boston Mayor Likely In Hospital Until Saturday

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino is not expected be released from the hospital at least until Saturday.

A spokeswoman for the mayor said Friday that Menino will remain at Brigham and Women's Hospital with septic bursitis and cellulitis in his left elbow.

Doctors believe Menino developed the infection after scraping his elbow during a visit last weekend to Italy, where he was attending a conference. He is being treated with antibiotics and had a small operation to drain fluid from his arm.

The 67-year-old Menino is the longest-serving mayor in the city's history. He was re-elected a year ago to his fifth four-year term.
