Sudbury Pays Final Respects To Soldier

The town of Sudbury is paying its final respects to a native son.

A public wake for Army Lt. Scott Milley is scheduled to be held Friday at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. Milley graduated from the school in 2005.

A funeral is planned for Saturday at the same location, followed by a procession to a nearby cemetery for burial.

Milley's hockey coach, Peter Elenbaas, says Milley was charming and funny, but also something more.

"(He had) the most toughness and courage of any kid I've ever coached," Elenbaas said. "So, he really combined these two things that don't go together very often. And it made him a really lovable kid and a dynamic leader, and a great teammate."

The 23-year-old officer died Nov. 30 when his patrol came under small-arms fire in Logar province.

Milley was a 2009 graduate of the University of New Hampshire.
