Body Of Mass. National Guardsman Returns Home

The body of a Massachusetts National Guardsman who died in Afghanistan is returning home.

Officials say the body of Pfc. Ethan Goncalo is scheduled to return to Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford on Tuesday.

The arrival will be followed by procession to his home town of Fall River.

Calling hours are Wednesday at Durfee High School and a funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday at Holy Rosary Church.

The National Guard says the 21-year-old Goncalo died in Afghanistan on Dec. 11 of noncombat related injuries.

He was a member of the 1st Battalion, 181st Infantry Regiment in Worcester.
