Snow Emergency Declared In Boston

Mayor Thomas Menino has declared a snow emergency that bans parking on all major streets in Boston.

The snow emergency will take effect at 3 p.m. Sunday as a major winter storm heads to New England. Forecasters expect 15 inches or more of snow in Boston and high winds that could damage power lines and cause outages.

Menino says the city has more than 500 pieces of snow removal equipment available and nearly 25,000 tons of salt.
