Blizzard Causes Power Outages In Mass.

UPDATE: NStar reports that 14,000 of its 1.1 million customers are without power due to the storm. The outages are mostly on the Cape and in the Plymouth area. A statement from NStar said that due to the significant damage from the storm, some customers may remain without power into Tuesday afternoon.

Over 28,000 National Grid customers are without power as of 3:30 p.m., and just over 500 Western Mass. Electric customers are without power.High winds gusting up to 80 miles per hour in some places added to the misery of a post-Christmas blizzard that knocked out power to tens of thousands of Massachusetts residents.

Electric utility National Grid reported nearly 28,000 of its 1.2 million customers without power late Monday morning, mostly in Norfolk, Plymouth and Essex counties.

NStar reported about 10,000 outages out of about 1.1 million customers as of 8 a.m. on Monday, concentrated on Cape Cod and the South Shore.

Western Mass. Electric reported scattered outages across a region that saw much lighter snow.
