Holiday Party? Nix The Alcohol For Teens

'Tis the season for holiday parties, and often, that means toasting with some adult beverages. But if you're thinking of letting underage guests in on the fun, you might want to think again. In Massachusetts, it is illegal for adults to permit minors to have alcohol.

Attorney Richard Campbell pushed for the "social host responsibility law."

"Fewer people appreciate the fact that if they allow the underage persons to possess alcohol, even if they don't physically buy it or give it to them, but they allow them to possess it on their premises, they are committing a crime," Campbell said.

The penalty is a $2,000 fine or up to a year in jail — or both.
