The New England Patriots kick off their campaign Sunday to win another Super Bowl. After a weekend off, they've got a second round playoff game against the New York Jets in Foxborough.

Mike Reiss covers the Patriots for ESPNBoston.com. He joined WBUR's Bob Oakes on Morning Edition Friday to preview Sunday's game.

"In the playoffs you see that it's a lot different, and the unpredictable often happens, as we saw last weekend when the Seattle Seahawks — who were seven wins and nine losses — beat the defending champion New Orleans Saints," Reiss said. "So I think you have to prepare for the unpredictable.

"And when two teams know each other, as the Patriots and Jets do, that oftentimes leads to closer games when you're playing the third time around."

This program aired on January 14, 2011.
