Children's Hospital Center One Of 7 To Develop National Care Standards

A new center at Children's Hospital Boston will be one of seven across the country tasked with developing new national standards to measure the quality of children's health care.

The center's director, Dr. Mark Schuster, said it will test new and existing quality measures to determine if they work.

"Our hospitals and our clinicians are very eager to provide the best care possible, but we don't always have the measures that would be useful for seeing just how we're doing and how we compare to others," Schuster said.

Schuster expects children's to receive $8 million in federal money in the next four years to fund the center.
