Tufts Naked Quad Run No More

Tufts University is getting rid of an unusual student tradition — celebrating the end of fall classes by running around the school quad...naked.

Tufts says the run promotes underage drinking and has become become too dangerous, and promises to start a new tradition.

Its a promise that sounded hollow to tufts senior Ben Gittleson.

"I think it's kind of a cop out to say, 'Oh, we'll just fill the void with a new tradition,' 'cause you can't just invent a new tradition, this one grew over decades, really," he said.

Twelve students were hospitalized and one was arrested at the last Naked Quad Run in December.

This program aired on March 15, 2011. The audio for this program is not available.
