Former Mass. Rep. Delahunt Joins National Law Firm

Former U.S. Rep. William Delahunt has signed on with a national law firm. Delahunt has joined Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott as special counsel in its Boston office. According to a statement Monday from the Pittsburgh-based firm, the former Massachusetts congressman will advise clients on "complex regulatory issues," including health care, financial services and energy and environment.

Delahunt, a Democrat, announced his retirement from politics last year after 14 years in the House. He previously served as Norfolk County District Attorney.

The Mashpee Wampanoags announced last month that Delahunt had been hired to lobby for the tribe, including in efforts to open a casino in Massachusetts.
