Ala. Gov. Expects Death Toll To Climb

As Alabama begins cleaning up from a line of severe storms, Gov. Robert Bentley says he expects more bad news.

Almost 200 people have died in five Southern states, 128 of them in Alabama. And Bentley tells ABC's "Good Morning America" that number is expected to rise.

He says the search and rescue operation is his first priority. To help with that, about 1,400 National Guard soldiers are being deployed around the state after President Barack Obama approved the governor's request for emergency federal assistance.

Of the 137 tornado reports to the National Weather Service, 66 were in Alabama.

One of the hardest-hit areas was Tuscaloosa, where the mayor says the city's police and other emergency services were devastated and at least 15 people were killed.

Elsewhere, Mississippi reports 32 dead. There were another 15 in Tennessee, 11 in Georgia and eight in Virginia.
