Update: The board approved the new teacher evaluation system.

The Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education is scheduled to vote Tuesday on a new system for evaluating teachers. Among other benchmarks, the updated regulations would use student results in state tests to measure an educator's performance.

Lisa Famularo, research director at the Rennie Center for Education Research and Policy, was on the task force that recommended the change. She joined Morning Edition Tuesday to discuss the issue.

This program aired on June 28, 2011.
