Boston Approves Christian Science Redevelopment Plan

Boston officials have approved plans for a large redevelopment of the 15-acre Christian Science Plaza.

The Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) on Tuesday night unanimously approved the "master plan" that will ultimately include three new towers and reconstruction of the reflecting pool.

"They got approved basically for 950,000-square feet for the project, so this will be bringing much-needed housing, office, possibly hotel and retail to that area," said Randi Lathrop, the deputy director for community planning at the BRA.

Church officials say the redevelopment will improve the appearance and usefulness of the plaza, and will also help the church financially.
