Fla. Woman Latest To File Lawsuit Against Cape Camp

There's more fallout from Sen. Scott Brown's disclosure that he was sexually abused at a Christian summer camp on Cape Cod.

A 45-year-old Florida woman is the latest former camper to file a lawsuit against Camp Good News in Sandwich.

Cheryl Ann Madden says a camp janitor molested her when she was 7, 8 and 9 years old, and threatened to kill her mother if she told.

"I was definitely afraid to come forward because as the summers went on, and it happened for three summers in a row, it got more brutal and he got more threatening," Madden said.

She says she told the camp leadership about the abuse nearly two years before Brown came forward.

"I heard about Scott Brown and the camp called me frantic that I would reveal the name of the camp because he wouldn't do that," Madden said.

Efforts to contact camp officials have not yet been successful.

Madden says she decided to sue after learning that there may have been a decades-long pattern of sexual abuse at the camp.

The camp is closed this summer as the local district attorney conducts an investigation.
