Live Audio: Obama To Give Statement On Libya

VINEYARD HAVEN, Mass. — President Obama is going before microphones Monday afternoon to discuss the fast-moving developments in Libya.

His statement is planned for 2 p.m. EDT, according to his spokesman, Josh Earnest, who's with the vacationing president on Martha's Vineyard.

Earnest said Obama was updated early Monday by John Brennan, his deputy national security adviser, on the rebel seizure of much of Libya's capital, Tripoli. Obama is also hosting a secure conference call with his national security team from his rented farm complex on the island off Cape Cod.

Earnest added that as far as U.S. officials know, Moammar Gadhafi is still in Libya. He says there's "no information" that the Libyan leader has left.

This program aired on August 22, 2011. The audio for this program is not available.
