MassGOP Chairwoman Resigns To Focus On Family

The head of the Massachusetts Republican Party is stepping down to focus on her growing family.

MassGOP Chairwoman Jennifer Nassour announced Monday in a letter to committee members that she and her husband are expecting their third child in February and she is resigning effective Oct. 28.

Nassour says she wants to focus her time on her family and hopes a change in leadership well ahead of the 2012 election will allow a new chairman time to settle into the job, an elected position.

She said any chairman will need to spend many hours fundraising and campaigning during the election year.

Nassour said she leaves the committee with money saved for candidates and an active grassroots operation.

She plans to remain an active Republican.
