2 Arrested Minutes After Fatal Lawrence Shooting

Lawrence police made two arrests within minutes of a rush-hour shooting that claimed the city's ninth homicide victim of the year.

Police say 39-year-old Gustavo Perez was shot between 93 and 99 Essex St at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and was pronounced dead at Lawrence General Hospital.

An off-duty officer heard gunshots as he headed into work and arrested 24-year-old Scott Brown of Brockton.

A second suspect, identified by police as 24-year-old Antonio Frazier of Boston, was arrested about 15 minutes later.

Chief John Romero tells The Eagle-Tribune that investigators are still trying to determine a motive. A gun has been recovered.

Brown and Frazier are scheduled to be arraigned in Lawrence District Court on Wednesday.
